About

I think I’m still trying to work this bit out, this who-I-am bit of business.

For initial blogging purposes, I am a knitter, and also a spinner, and I am better at the former than I am at the latter. The only thing I’ve done for longer than writing is photography, and while the writing is currently limited, the photography is getting better.

I used to do kung-fu, and I once attempted a long-distance hike that made me fall in love with walking in the British countryside. Both resulted in injury that has now mostly healed, and while I’m tempted to return to martial arts, the gym and the occasional yoga session seem to keep me pretty fit and happy.

I was a Film Studies graduate, but that got me nowhere, and now by and large I identify myself as a passionate and knowledge-hungry fledgling horticulturist who dreams of being a good plantswoman and gardener, and perhaps someday a designer.

I suffer from depression; while that is not by-the-by, it is undeniably in the background, and it makes all of the above that much more challenging, but that much more rewarding. It also makes lots of things a little bit weird.

This is mostly me. There are other smaller bits to me, but these are the key bits. For the moment.

Goals for 2012: learn to make music, take up painting, and learn to fly a powerkite.
